Wynnum Road and the Morningside strip
IT support in Morningside
Morningside is where a lot of small Brisbane businesses grew up rather than started: agencies, trades with a real office, wholesalers along Wynnum Road, and studios in converted warehouses near Colmslie. The common thread is a business that outgrew its original setup years ago and never formally replaced it.
What breaks in Morningside
The single most common job here is email. A business that began with two people on free Gmail or a mailbox bundled with an old hosting account now has nine staff, and every one of those problems is downstream of that choice: no shared calendars, no way to reach a departed employee’s mail, attachments bouncing at 25MB, and an address that quietly reads as amateur to the clients you most want.
Migrating to Microsoft 365 properly is a different job to signing up for it. The mail has to move without losing history, the domain records have to change in the right order so nothing bounces mid-transfer, and the old mailboxes have to keep receiving until the change has propagated. Done carefully it is an evening’s work and nobody notices. Done casually it loses mail, and you find out from a client.
The second recurring issue is what happens after the migration nobody planned: files. Once mail moves, the shared drive on a machine under someone’s desk becomes the obvious remaining risk. Moving that into SharePoint or OneDrive gives you version history and off-site copies, but it needs a folder structure decided before the move rather than after, or you simply relocate the mess.
Third is licensing. Most Morningside businesses we meet are paying for the wrong mix — Business Premium for everyone when half the staff need Business Basic, or three separate subscriptions bought at different times by different people. Auditing that usually pays for a decent chunk of the work.
A design studio, Morningside
Eleven staff running on a mix of personal Gmail and one legacy mailbox, with client files on a drive plugged into the studio manager’s iMac. We moved everyone to Microsoft 365 over a weekend with full mail history intact, restructured the shared files into SharePoint before migrating rather than after, and cut the licence spend by roughly a fifth by matching plans to what people actually used.

Morningside questions we get asked
Can you move us to Microsoft 365 without losing email?
Yes. Full mailbox history moves across, and we sequence the domain record changes so mail keeps flowing throughout. The old mailboxes stay live until the change has fully propagated, which is what stops anything falling into a gap.
We are on Wynnum Road. Do you come out or is it all remote?
Both. Most issues are solved remotely straight away, which is faster than any drive across Brisbane. When a job needs hands on it — cabling, a new office, hardware — we come to you, usually within about two hours.
Are we paying too much for Microsoft licences?
Frequently, yes. The common pattern is everyone on the most expensive plan when only some people need it, plus subscriptions bought separately over the years. We audit what is actually being used before recommending anything.
