Ad-hoc and break-fix rates
If you would rather call only when something breaks, these are the rates. Plan clients never see them — support is already inside the monthly fee.
| Type of work | Rate | Minimum | Then billed in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remote support | $165 / hour | 30 minutes | 15-minute increments |
| On-site support | $190 / hour | 1 hour | 15-minute increments |
| After hours — remote | $250 / hour | 1 hour | 15-minute increments |
| After hours — on site | $285 / hour | 1 hour | 15-minute increments |
All rates exclude GST. After hours means anything outside 7:30am–5:30pm on a weekday, plus weekends and public holidays — see after-hours support. If you are calling three or four times a quarter, a plan costs less than the sessions: we run that maths honestly here.

The first month
- Week one — the audit. A half-day on site, then a written list of what's fine, what's ageing and what's a genuine risk.
- Week two — remediation. The urgent items get fixed. You approve anything that costs money before we spend it.
- Week three — monitoring and backup go on every machine, and we document the environment properly.
- Week four — a short handover. You get the documentation, the contact numbers, and one number to call from then on.
Common questions about managed IT
How much does managed IT support cost in Brisbane?
Managed IT for a small business in South East Queensland is usually priced per user per month, and the fee covers support, monitoring, patching and backup. A six-person office typically pays a predictable monthly amount rather than per-hour callouts. Our published per-user pricing is above.
What's the difference between a plan and paying per callout?
Per callout, you pay after something breaks and you wear the downtime. On a plan, we monitor your systems continuously and fix most faults remotely before anyone notices. The cost is fixed and known, and the incentive is on us to prevent problems.
Is there a minimum number of users?
No. We support sole operators through to offices of about thirty. Below three users a plan sometimes isn't worth it, and we'll tell you that rather than sell you one — a discounted callout arrangement can be better value at that size.
Are we locked into a contract?
No lock-in. Plans run month to month with thirty days' notice on either side. If we're not earning the fee you should be able to leave, and you take your documentation, licences and Microsoft 365 tenancy with you.
What counts as an on-site visit?
Anything that needs hands on hardware: a failed machine, a new starter's desk, a switch that has died. On the Business plan these are included under fair use, which in practice means normal support visits rather than a full office relocation.
How quickly do you respond?
Quickly, and remotely wherever we can — most faults are fixed on the first call. If it needs someone on site we book a real window with you rather than quoting a blanket number.
Do you support Macs as well as Windows?
Yes. Mixed environments are normal in creative studios and allied health, and both are covered at the same per-user price. Monitoring, patching, antivirus and backup all apply to macOS machines the same way they do to Windows.
What happens if we need help after hours?
Complete plan clients get 24/7 support. Business plan clients get business-hours support with after-hours available at an agreed rate for genuine emergencies — a server down on a Sunday is not something we leave until Monday.
Do you take over from our current IT provider?
Regularly. We audit first, get administrative access documented, and run a short overlap so nothing is dropped in the handover. You don't need to have an awkward conversation with them before talking to us.
What if we already have some of this in place?
Then you pay for less of it. The audit establishes what already works — an existing backup, decent hardware, MFA already on — and we don't charge you to replace things that are fine. The plan covers the gaps.
Still weighing it up? Managed plan versus paying per callout runs the maths honestly, including when break-fix is the better answer.
