IT support in Capalaba
Capalaba is inside our core bayside zone, about 10 minutes from our Alexandra Hills base, so we are rarely far away. Most of our work here is in the trade and warehouse premises around Moreton Bay Road, where an office is bolted onto the front of a workshop and the Wi-Fi was never designed to reach the back.
What the work looks like in Capalaba
Capalaba is the commercial engine of the Redlands, and the mix here is different to Cleveland's professional strip. Warehouses and trade suppliers along Moreton Bay Road and Redland Bay Road, retail around Capalaba Central and Capalaba Park, and a long tail of small operators in the industrial streets behind them. Almost none of these premises were built with a network in mind.
The recurring job is coverage. An office at the front of a unit has a router in the corner, and everything behind it — the warehouse, the yard, the mezzanine — is served by whatever signal happens to leak through a tilt-panel wall. It does not work, someone buys an extender, and it works slightly less well than before. The fix is almost always the same: a cable run to a properly mounted access point at the back, on the same network, with a switch that lives somewhere with airflow.
The second pattern is dust and heat. Equipment in a workshop environment fails years earlier than the same equipment in an office, and a switch sitting on a shelf above a roller door will not last. Where we can, hardware goes in a small enclosed cabinet rather than on a bench, which is a hundred-dollar decision that regularly saves a thousand-dollar one.
Connections in Capalaba are mixed. The newer estates are fibre to the premises, but a lot of the older commercial streets are still fibre to the node, and a business planning to move phones or accounting software into the cloud needs the line tested under load before that decision gets made, not after.
A job on Moreton Bay Road
A supplier with eight staff had point-of-sale terminals dropping out several times a day. Everyone assumed the internet. The connection was fine; a single unmanaged switch in a hot cupboard was resetting under load, taking the terminals with it. Replaced with a managed switch in a ventilated position, plus a cabled access point for the warehouse — the dropouts stopped that afternoon and have not come back.

Questions about IT support in Capalaba
How quickly can you get to Capalaba?
Usually sooner than you would expect — Capalaba is roughly 10 minutes from our Alexandra Hills base and is in our core bayside zone. Remote support starts as soon as we pick up and resolves most faults before a vehicle would have arrived.
Do you cover warehouses and workshops, not just offices?
Yes, and it is a large share of the work here. Coverage across a shed or a yard needs cabled access points rather than extenders, and hardware that will survive dust and heat rather than office-grade equipment on a shelf.
What internet connection will a Capalaba business have?
It varies street by street. Newer estates are fibre to the premises; a lot of the older commercial areas are still fibre to the node. We check the address before recommending anything that depends on upload speed.
